I undertook this project with Refinery29 a few weeks ago to bang out 31 looks in 2 days (beauty, too, which is pretty intense) to make a Month of Holiday Beauty (<----click me click me). Luckily I got to work with my good friend Colleen and split the workload, but all-in-all, we pretty much rocked it. Like the makeup goddesses we are, obvs. This is one of my favs so far, but there are more to come. It's like an advent calendar for New Year's Eve, which is pretty much my life, but add 2 days and make it a countdown to my birthday.

Put the tweezers down and step away. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am talking about eyebrows. Eyebrows are possibly the most important part of the face. If you erase a set of eyebrows, you make a person almost indistinguishable. I have worked with countless tweezer-happy women of all ages who have really done a number on those hairs. I am of the opinion that a more natural brow is best, but I understand many ladies are looking for a more arched look than their born-with form. If that's the case, my best advice is to ask others whose eyebrows you admire where they got their brows done and invest the money to go to one of those recommendations. If not, you may wander into the hands of some wax loving hairless wonder who will leave your arches in the category of invisible. WARNING: SOMETIMES EYEBROWS WILL NOT GROW BACK. Scary business, but REAL TALK. However, if you have already found yourself in the clutches of an eyebrow thief, never fear! Here are some of my favorite eyebrow pencils that will bring those frames of the face back to life.

I'm a big fan of Shiseido in general, but their Natural Eyebrow Pencil is perhaps one of my all time faves. I like the firmness of the pencil and the fact that there's a softish brush on the other end to help soften lines if you find the line to be too sharp.

MUD's Eye Pencil is a great versatile tool that (bonus!) can be used as an eyeliner AND brow definer. I especially love the color Taupe. It works well for both blondes and brunettes.

I've had Make Up For Ever's Eyebrow Pencil in No. 4 in my kit FOR EVER (hah--get it?). I like that it's a bit gray, a quality in an eyebrow filler color that I find gives a more natural appearance. The color range with the MUFE pencil is similar to Shiseido's, but works well if you're looking for a pencil that's a bit softer.

Surprise! Maybelline's Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil is fantastic. (See, y'all, Makeup Artists like thrifty things too.) It also has killer staying power, so if you find your standard eyebrow pencil fades easily, give this a whirl.

Keep in mind, with all of the above you want to pick a color that's just a shade lighter than your natural brow color to ensure the most organic look possible (unless your brow is completely blonde, then perhaps go with a shade darker). Now go forth, and show the world your distinguished self. HAPPY BROWS 4 EVA.

Being there makes you feel like you've been uprooted to the coast of Europe--a hybrid of Greece, Spain, Italy, and France. No, not me. Kate Middleton. She is a very pretty woman, and not much younger than me (spoiler--now you can google how old I am). But the EYELINER. WHY??? I can't decide if she's stuck in 7th grade when it was cool to put black eyeliner solely on your lower lashline or if she's one of those thousands of women who thinks that she has to have black eyeliner completely around her eye AT ALL TIMES. I'm sorry to break it to you, all of you who worship the kohl pencil, but that ages you at least 15 years. And not in a good way. It actually makes your eyes look smaller, not bigger. Just try going a day without it. Do it for me. And if it's absolutely killing you not to wear it, just pile on a bunch of mascara (but no caterpillar lashes, pretty please). Ask other ladies what they think of your new look (make sure they aren't members of your eyeliner crutch club first). If you're still not convinced, try a brownish shimmery pencil. I like MAC's Eye Kohl in Teddy. Apply as closely to the lashline as possible then soften and smudge with a short bristled brush such as MUD's #810 Smudger Brush. Enjoy your updated look! And, while you're at it, let Kate know what's up. Thanks.

I can't even count the number of times I've heard, "I have greasy eyelids. Everything smudges on me." Apparently "greasy eyelids" has become a technical term. But I get it: it's hard to find an eyeshadow that stays on your eyes without creasing, especially when the heat index is 105 degrees. Enter mark Keep It Going Longwear Eyeliner & Shadow. This stuff is SERIOUS. It comes in 5 fun duos in very wearable colors that can be used as a shadow or eyeliner. I wear the Exposure duo (seen above) almost every day. I apply the champagne color all over my lid up to my eyebrow with my finger, and then, if I'm feeling fancy, I smudge the darker color in my crease. You can use brushes if you want, but I like to keep things as simple as possible. (Confession: when it comes to my own makeup, I'm lazy.) It also works fantastically as a base, increasing the longevity of powder shadows. Alone I have worn this bizness everywhere, from the gym all the way to scorching hot days at the beach, and it DOES NOT CREASE. I SWEAR. mark, what did you DO?! Geniuses at this little baby of Avon, I'm telling YOU. At $10 a pop, you can get all 5 colors for $50 (math!). Who said summer meant wearing less makeup? Weirdos.

Who knew 1 tube of lipstick could make me so happy? How did Tom Ford know to create the perfect coral of my dreams? True Coral. You want it. I know this product came out a while back, but I've been putting off purchasing it until 2 days ago. Now it's permanently fixed to my lips. The tube makes me feel super 80's, like I stepped out of an episode of Dynasty. Insta-glam. What's great about this color is that you can wear it alone or with a made up eye. Day to night! I also love the color pay-off: it's super pigmented without feeling dry. Candy lips all summer long!
